Gender What?
I know we’re all rolling our eyes at the opening prayer of the 117th congress of “amen” and “awomen.” Not to mention the gender restrictive terminology forbidding the terms father, mother, he and she, among other ridiculous, required verbiage that will make the House of Representatives “more inclusive.” Tumblr actually lists 112 different genders in 2020. It would seem one needs to go back to elementary vocabulary lessons if we are going to be verbally correct in a political and religious culture that has literally gone nutty. However, beyond a senseless way certain pseudo leaders would like us to communicate, there is a deeper, subtle intent that goes to the heart of the matter of attempting to replace God as creator and become God ourselves.
If I can appear to have the ability to change my birth gender through medication, surgery, and cultural jargon, do I not become God myself? Of course, we understand creating a human being, even through in-vitro fertilization, still requires a sperm and an egg. However, what if we could develop a culture where we control life, birth, death, and determine the outcomes of humanity? Would we then not be able to discard the relic of a creator God in favor of our own God-like aspirations? If you think that’s not on the agenda, consider this:
In 1930 Frederick Edwin Smith, the First Earl of Birkenhead, wrote a book, The World in 2030 A.D. in which he proposes “ectogenesis”; creating life outside the human body. Not just the proverbial “test tube” child but life in an artificial uterus even created through some bacteria. The concept proposes a way for gay, lesbian, or “straight” men and women to have children without surrogate pregnancies, sperm donation, and no need for a pregnancy cycle. He states:
“In 2030, the prospect of woman’s liberation from the dangers of childbirth will almost certainly become a matter of general realization. This evolution, the most serious biological departure since the natural separation of living organisms into two sexes, will vitally transform the whole status of women in society.”
“Although its economic effect on woman is the most important result which ectogenesis will bring, I must consider also its effects on marriage and family life, as we know them. First, ectogenesis will entirely divorce physical love from the reproduction of the species. The common practice of contraception has already, in some measure, accustomed certain classes of the population to this idea; its complete realization will occupy many generations and create a violent social readjustment.” He says, “this will usher in a brave new world that enables women to vastly expand their accomplishments in every sphere of life.”
Not to mention it would make abortion much more convenient as we would not have to keep what we created if it was inconvenient and would not endanger the life of the woman.
Fast forward to right now; everything we have seen in the last 30 years to change the sexual lingo, legalize gay marriage, or shame those who don’t use the right nomenclature is not about respecting a minority or being concerned about someone’s feelings. It’s ultimately about deleting the living God and creator from our lives and becoming Gods ourselves.
Interestingly, the Apostle Paul saw all of this in the first century. Read through his words and ponder where we are at today:
So God said, in effect, “If that’s what you want, that’s what you get.” It wasn’t long before they were living in a pigpen, smeared with filth, filthy inside and out. And all this because they traded the true God for a fake god and worshiped the god they made instead of the God who made them—the God we bless, the God who blesses us. Oh, yes!"
"Worse followed. Refusing to know God, they soon didn’t know how to be human either—women didn’t know how to be women, men didn’t know how to be men. Sexually confused, they abused and defiled one another, women with women, men with men—all lust, no love. And then they paid for it, oh, how they paid for it—emptied of God and love, godless and loveless wretches."
"Since they didn’t bother to acknowledge God, God quit bothering them and let them run loose. And then all hell broke loose: rampant evil, grabbing and grasping, vicious backstabbing. They made life hell on earth with their envy, wanton killing, bickering, and cheating. Look at them: mean-spirited, venomous, fork-tongued God-bashers. Bullies, swaggerers, insufferable windbags! They keep inventing new ways of wrecking lives. They ditch their parents when they get in the way. Stupid, slimy, cruel, cold-blooded. And it’s not as if they don’t know better. They know perfectly well they’re spitting in God’s face. And they don’t care—worse, they hand out prizes to those who do the worst things best!" Romans 1:24-32 Message
Just a reminder, I didn’t write these words. And this is not some kind of gay-bashing post (those of you who know me, know better) as there are many sins the bible speaks about in a heterosexual world such as gossip, unforgiveness, premarital sexual activity, and a host of other things we are supposed to turn from. Church people like to single out certain social sins and forget about their own.
These words from the scripture may sound harsh, but the Holy Spirit gave us an indication of what culture looks like when we reject the creator God and become creators on our own and I'm simply making an observation that is becoming increasingly clear. And the heart of this also goes to ultimately changing the original identity the Lord created us with so we no longer look like the image of God.
With everything we’re seeing, we need to ask ourselves if there is any hope? Some would give up on our nation and the nations of the world and our own family, friends, and co-workers who seem to have believed the lie. That would be a mistake. The Lord is looking for people who really know the Lord, to contend for His will to be done and His kingdom to be established on earth. That’s why we cry out to him for a national awakening in fasting and prayer. No true lover of Jesus wants judgment. Every rescue of civilization in history has come about through divine intervention. Even the wicked, Assyrian nation was saved and lasted an additional 100 years when they responded to the prophet Jonah.
We desire people to know the Lord and if there was ever a time for believers to call on him, it is now. We call out to those in a confused identity to understand the grace and love of your real creator and become the man or woman you were originally created to be. We call out to a backslidden, American church to realize your identity and return to the Lord. This is not in the government’s hands but ours. We can’t continue to be satisfied with prayerless lives and churches, powerless songs and sermons, and the normalcy of what Christianity has become in America. Stand up! Speak up! Look up! And go after revival until our cities experience the identity and presence of a living God. Possible- ABSOLUTELY!
